The Majestic
The demolition of the Majestic Hotel in Applecross in the late 1980's created a new small subdividsion for residential housing around the north-west peninsula of the riverside suburb. Applecross was established in the 1930's and subsequently became - after the opening of the Narrows Bridge and Freeway during the 1960's - a desireable riverside address in proximity to the CBD. As such the new land release created spirited interest.
Zorzi Builders designed and built a custom home of Georgian style on one of the sites on Fraser Road, to showcase the abilities of their crafts people. Appropriately, the home was named The Majestic.
In keeping with the symmetry of the chosen architectural style, the home features a centralised two storey portico at the entry and mirrored flanking sides. The formal garden displays the same symmetry.
As the lots are tiered down toward the river, the outlook from the rear of this site is in its self majestic. The design captures the available view.
